Graham's Cooking Skills

Graham is in his new Townhouse
and is learning to cook for himself.

He has been cooking now for 5 weeks.

The program is 3 weeks of the same food
preparation (once a week) and Graham is
allowed to choose 1 recipe for each 3 week
period.

WEEK 1, 2 & 3

Graham, mixing together the mince meat,
chopped onion, eggs, breadcrumbs, herbs
and flour.

On the 1st week he chose to do an open
hamburger. We went to the supermarket
and purchased the necessary ingredients.

This recipe was continued on the 2nd and
3rd week. By the 3rd week he was able
to do it all by himself.

He was to do this recipe at least once every
week as practice makes perfect!

Graham then assembled the elements on a plate.

Ready to eat.

The left over rissoles were sealed with foil and put in the
fridge. That night he shared these with his mother and father.

WEEK 4, 5 & 6

This period Graham wanted to make pork balls.
The ingredients were similar to the rissoles
except this time he added chopped shallots
to the mixture.

He then molded them into small round balls.

...and put them aside while the pan was
heating up.

this time he needed more oil so had to be
careful not to drop the balls into the hot oil
and cause a splash. This time he used a glass
lid to stop splatter, turning the balls over regularly.

until they were cooked. He took one out and
cut it in half to test it was cooked.

He cooked some mixed vegetables and put them
on the plate with the pork balls. Dinner enjoyed!

WEEK 5

Week 5 Graham used the same recipe
as he did for pork balls but this time
he used chicken mince.

This was showing Graham that he could
vary a simple recipe to be different.

The chicken balls were were quite flavoursome.
Graham had some for dinner with mixed
vegetables and the leftovers were eaten the
next day for lunch.

Left over chicken balls were put in the fridge for
lunch the next day.

After cooking Graham cleaned up around his
stove, bench and floor as well as washing
all the utensils and putting them away.

WEEK 6

Graham will make same recipe but will use
beef mince instead of pork or chicken.

WEEK 7, 8 & 9

Graham has chosen a recipe from his
book for these weeks. It is
jacket potatoes with beef mince,
fresh herbs including capsicum and
fresh salad.
